She was born in Earlysville, VA on November 14, 1927, to the late Jeter J. and Florene Austin Marshall. She was also preceded in death by a sister Flora Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 56 years, J. Edward "Plu" Bailey, two sons; James E. Bailey and John M. Bailey and his wife Sandy, all of Earlysville, two sisters; Helene Lewis of Newport News and Louise Burmaster and her husband John of San Rafael, CA. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Heather Ruiz and her husband Joey, Amber Bailey all of Austin, TX, Forrest E. Bailey of Hampton, VA, Miranda Bailey of Centreville, VA and Joshua Bailey of Blacksburg, VA and two great-grandsons; Seth Evan Bailey and Dominic Ruiz. "Ole Bailey" graduated with the last class of Cadet Corp of Nursing from C & O School of Nursing at Clifton Forge, VA. She then worked for more than 25 years at Martha Jefferson Hospital in the operating room.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday November 4, 2006 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville, VA, with Pastor Lance King officiating. The family received friends Friday November 3, 2006 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
