BELMONT - Ruby Sronce Auten, 89, passed away Feb. 29, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Gaston County on Jan. 29, 1923, daughter of the late Robert and Mary ODaniel Sronce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Porter Auten, son, Tony Howard Auten and brother, Marvin Sronce.
Affectionately known as the Pecan Lady, Ruby loved to pick up pecans, bake pecan pies and supply her friends and family with fresh pecans from the trees on her property. She is survived by her two loving daughters; Tandy A. Anderson and husband John of Springwood and Nikki A. Gaddis of Belmont, beloved grandson, Matthew Timothy Gilliam.
A funeral service conducted by Rev. Joe Lawing will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont is serving the Auten family.
