LOIS MILTON BLANTON - obituary

·27 Nov 2002 , Leonard, Fannin County, Texas, USA
Leonard Graphic, Nov. 2002

LOIS BLANTON - Lois Blanton was born on July 18, 1903. He has three brothers and three sisters. He is the son of the late Charley and Mattie Blanton of Leonard. One sister, Juanita Hancock, survives him. On Dec. 20, 1924, he married Eva Mullins, who preceded him in death. He enjoyed farming cotton and corn. He lived all his life in the house his father built, close to his birthplace, near Blanton's Chapel (founded by his grandfather, Benjamin Blanton). When he was no longer able to care for himself, he moved into the nursing home. He often talked about all the changes he had seen. He lived when the land was mostly timber. Going to the moon wasn't even a dream to becoming a reality. He talked about riding in buggies, buying his first Model-T and haircuts costing 25 cents. Lois was everybody's uncle. He once said, "To be a Blanton you have to love horses and dogs." He loved people. He had a great sense of humor and was kind to everyone. He died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002. Numerous nieces and nephews, spanning many generations, survive him.
