Herbert L. Acree, age 78, died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on January 3, 1931, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Lorin and Ruth (Strome) Acree. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1949 and worked for the Cumberland Post Office as a postal carrier for many years. He had most recently worked for Ford Motor Company. Herbert married Mildred F. Straub on January 18, 1950 in Indianapolis. He loved crossword puzzles, hunting, and fishing.

Surviving him are his wife, Mildred F. (Straub) Acree; sons, Lester (Debbie) Acree of Indianapolis and Eddie (Tammi) Acree of Peru; daughters, Denise (David) Thompson of Noblesville and Connie (Dean) Butler of Indianapolis; sister, Constance (Albert) Tullis of Florida; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.. Preceding him in death were his parents and infant daughter, Ruth Acree.

Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with calling for one hour prior to the service. Pastor John Davis will be officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
