Wayne R. Ahrens, of 1610 Logan Ave., died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at his home after complications from cancer. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Ahrens had farmed, was City Park caretaker, worked at Keller's Home Furnishings and was Red Oak Cemetery caretaker. He was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Wilton. He married Frances Dallege in 1943 in Bennett. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Sandra Slade, Kissimmee, Fla., and Diane Thede, Ada, Ohio; sons, Jerry W., Oroville, Calif., and James L., Tipton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
