In the USA she was called Effie.
In 1892, when Evertje was 15 years old, she emigrated with her family to the USA, very probably directly to Douglas County, located in the southeastern part of South Dakota.
On February 24, 1899 Effie Hubers married in Douglas County, South Dakota at the age of 22 years the five years older John Feenstra, who was born in the Netherlands too, in the northern province Friesland.
Between April 1900 and October 1920 they had four daughters and five sons, all born in Douglas County, South Dakota.
In June 1900 Evertje (22 years old, born in August 1887 [has to be: 1877] in Holland, immigrated in 1892, mother of one living child), her husband John Feenstra (28 years old, born in April 1872 in Holland, immigrated in 1884, farmer) and their daughter Vroutje (0 months old, May 1900, South Dakota) were living at their own farm in Iowa Township, Douglas County, South Dakota. They were living near Harrison, Iowa Township, located just east of the Dutch agrarian settlement New Holland.
In 1915 they were living in Joubert Township, located just northwest of New Holland, Douglas County, South Dakota.
In April 1918 their daughter Florence died at the age of almost 18 years in New Holland, Douglas County, South Dakota.
In March 1920 Effie (43), her husband John Feenstra (48, farmer), their children Nick (18), Henry (16), Rieckie (14), Johanna (10), Willie (9, South Dakota), John (6, South Dakota) and Andrew (4, South Dakota) were still living at their own farm in Joubert Township, Douglas County, South Dakota.
In May 1935 her husband John Feenstra died at the age of 63 years in Douglas County, South Dakota, likely at their farm in Joubert Township.
In April 1940 Mrs J Feenstra (62), her son Andrew (24, South Dakota, farmer) and daughter Florence (19, South Dakota) were living at their own farm, worth $500, in Joubert Township, Douglas County, South Dakota. They lived in 1935 at the same place.
In May 1953 widow Effie died at the age of 75 years in Charles Mix County, South Dakota, located immediately southwest of Douglas County.
