Caroline S. "Carrie" Gwinn was born to Robert and Martha Gwinn in Iowa. Her mother died during the infancy of her younger brother Montie, and the two children were raised by their step-mother, Rachel Elizabeth Hull Gwinn, after their father remarried in 1858.
Carrie married Henry D. Blatchley, a drugstore owner, in June of 1887. Carrie was a teacher, and the first to teach in Caldwell's one-room school in fall of 1883. Later she taught at the College of Idaho. Much of the land for the college was donated by the Blactchleys, and Blatchley Hall was originally their home.
They are not known to have had any children.
