Glen Howe

Tuolumne resident Glen Howe died at his home early Jan. 9. He was 78.
Born in Higginsville, Mo., to Otis and Goldie Howe, he was one of four children. He moved to California with his family at a young age. He graduated from Summerville High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the Army. He was stationed in Korea in 1953.
He returned to Tuolumne after serving in the Army, married Danie McKinney and had a daughter, Diana. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Howe was a member of the Laborer's Union and worked for may years in the Sacramento area, where he met Susan Koizumi and her son Tommy. The couple married and had two sons, Michael and Johnny. They later divorced, and Mr. Howe returned to Tuolumne.
He was an avid fisherman and could be seen most mornings walking through downtown Tuolumne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn brother, Aron Howe; brother, Michael Howe; sister Phyllis Burns; daughter, Diana Howe; and grandson, Damon Huhtala.
He is survived by sons, Michael Howe, of New York and John Howe of Astoria, Ore; stepson, Tommy Koizumi, of Oregon; grandchildren; Davin Huhtala of Folsom, Jessica Howe, Meghan Howe and Michael Howe, all of New York, and Cassie Howe, of Astoria, Ore.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
