Attended West Point, Class of 1861. The class appealed to the US Secretary of War for an early graduation in April following the First Battle of Fort Sumter.

Died at Winnebago Hospital (for the insane) after being a patient for 2-3 years. His burial took place Saturday, April 19, 1890.
