Hartley James Enyart Sr. was born on October 21, 1922 in rural Postville, the sone of James and Frieda {Martens} Enyart. He attended Highland Elementary school in the rural Frankville area and the Red School ELementary at rural Luana, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1942. On May 19TH , 1944 Hartley married Beulah Lawson at the Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville. Hartley and Beaulah farmed in Jefferson Township; until 1970. Hartley then worked for the Dairy Department for NFO for several years. They also managed the Disco statiion for two years and the Village Motel for one year. In 1985 they moved to Dallas Texas where they took care of an elderly couple for two years and them part time for several years. Hartley and Beaulah moved back to the farm in 1989. Hartley was a long time member of Forest Mills United Methodist church. He enjoyed reading books, visiting and telling stories and talking about politics with family and friends, especially the shut ins. Hartley as very proud of his lawn and garden.
survivors include his wife Beaulah, of Waukon, 2 sons, Hartley Jr and wife Vicky, David and wife Christine all of Waukon, a daughter Joyce and husband Lanny Marting, of Postville. 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Willian and Wife Ester of Lancaster Texas, and Donald and wife Sarah of Postville. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son James Donald.
