Mabel L. Alderfer, May 20, 1908 - July 3, 2003, Mabel L. ALDERFER, 95, a former resident of Akron and the Burton community, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Life Care Center, Rochester. Born in Culver to Bertha B. (FRY) and Alvin POLLEY, she married Ralph U. ALDERFER on July 24, 1926 in Fulton County. He died Dec. 28, 1968. She was a homemaker and a cook at the Burton School northeast of Rochester. She attended the Akron Church of God and had been a member of the Burton United Methodist Church. She was a War Mother. Survivors include two daughters Lois KAMP MATHIAS, Rochester and Wanda and husband Harvey ARTHUR, Akron; one son Robert and wife Betty ALDERFER, Yuma City, Calif.; nine grandchildren Kathy BEARD, Crescent City, Michael ALDERFER, Fort Worth, Kevin ALDERFER, Yuba City, Calif., Elaine SHIDLER, Rochester, Randy KAMP, Goshen, Dennis KAMP, Rochester, Brenda ROSS, Akron, Bonita KLEIN, Connersville, and Becky GEARHART, Akron; and one sister Sylvia MEYER, North Liberty. She was preceded in death by one daughter Doris ALDERFER, two grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Steve FLECK officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Akron Church of God.
