He worked for his father and other contractors as a painter, and learned paper hanging, for several years. For 25 years, he was self-employed at his trade. And for 24 years, he lived in and operated the Broadway Hotel in Salt Lake City, retiring April 1, 1978. He was a member of the LDS Church.
