Mary Jane Rumley Davis, 81, of Sheldon, TX, passed away, Oct. 12, 2011. She was born on Jan. 1, 1930. Mrs. Davis was a resident of Sheldon all of her life. She valued God and her family. She was both Mother and Father to her three children, after the death of her husband in 1975. She worked for many years as a sales clerk for Leonard's Department Store, Wayside Department Store and Weriners. She was also a devoted Sunday school and Nursery school attendant at First Baptist Church of Channelview.
Born the only surviving daughter of Albert and Allie Louisa Rumley and a fraternal twin born on New Year's Day. She shared her love for life with all she knew.
She enjoyed her membership with the Red Hatters.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Davis; seven brothers; grandson, Andrew O'Berry and great granddaughter, Andre O'Berry.
She is survived by her brothers, Donnie Rumley; son, Robert Earl Davis; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Lipps and husband Kendall Lipps, Pamela Lou Davis, Dedre Rene O'Berry; granddaughter, Mary Ann Davis, Bobbi Lynn Davis and husband Robert, Matthew Lee Holmes and numerous great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Earthman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
