Estherville – Services for Ida Mae Gangestad, 75, Estherville, were held Tuesday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stan Eyberg officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Gangestad died Friday [May 25, 1979] evening at the Estherville Good Samaritan Center, Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marquand [Eugene] Sarchett, she was born Jan. 2, 1904, at Dolliver. She received her education in Bancroft and Dolliver and was married to Melvin J. Gangestad in 1928 at Estherville.

The couple lived in Maple Hill following their marriage and later moved to Estherville where they operated a café for seven years. Then later moved to Bancroft and later returned to Estherville. She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Gangestad is survived by one son, Melvin E. Gangestad, Spirit Lake; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 29, 1979)
