Killed in an airplane crash at Lagers field, Tercerio, in the Azores.

Corporal Langley was killed when U.S. Air Force B-29-50-MO Superfortress #44-86356 faultered on takeoff from Lajes Field, Azores, and crashed into the sea 500 yards offshore. The aircraft and it's crew were homebound to MacDill Air Force Base after serving for some extended months in England. Eighteen servicemembers perished and one survived and was rescued.
