Thomas (went by Tom) Edley Butner was the eldest of seven known children of Joel Samuel Butner (1834-1924) and Sarah Elizabeth Hooper (1837-1912), who married 11 Apr 1861 at Cass County, Missouri.
Tom married the widow Mary (went by Mollie) Ann Parker Borden (1869-1950) in c1908. Mollie was a widow at the time of the marriage with three children:
1. Charles Henry Borden (1896-1952)
2. Nettie K. Borden Stephens (1899-1974)
3. Raymond Parker Borden (1902-1971)
Mollie had married Thomas Wiley Borden (1861-1906) on 26 Feb 1896 at Washington County, Arkansas. After Thomas died, Mollie remarried to Thomas Edley Butner and they had two sons, namely:
4. Joel David Butner (1908-1997)
5. Roger W. Butner (1910-2007)
