Mary J. Pemberton, 101, passed away September 17, 2011. Mary was born in Locust Grove OK on February 10, 1910. She graduated from secretarial school in Muskogee OK. She was involved in Women of the Church in the First United Methodist Church of Jennings LA. She married Richard Max Pemberton on December 24, 1929, in Muskogee, Muskogee County, OK. They had their 75th wedding anniversary on December 24, 2004, in Midland TX.

Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents George Washington Benton and Isabella Trigg; parents Reverend George Washington "Wash" Benton and Francis Melinda Hudspeth Benton; husband Richard Max Pemberton; brother Calvin David Benton and wife Berdie B. Stephenson; sisters Ollie May Wilson and husband James Franklin Wilson, Mellie Jane Buell and husband Sherman Buell, Margaret Drucilla Merritt and husband John Lafayette Merritt, Ida Belle Berry and husband Lon Berry, Ethel Gertrude Coleasure and husband James Ira Coleasure, Lillie Angeline Benton, Vinnie Vivien Benton, Gladys Irene Stokes and husband Walter Laverne Stokes, and Blanche Bellah and husband Lois Henry Bellah.

She is survived by her sons Richard Dan Pemberton and wife Joyce of Midland TX, and Donald Max Pemberton and wife Janet of Meridian ID; grandchildren Richard Dan Pemberton, Jr., of Topeka KS, Gary Lee Pemberton of Plano TX, Lynda Louise Pemberton Progler of Prairieville LA, Shawna Danielle Pemberton of Yakima WA, and Derek Michael Pemberton of Yakima; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Her great aunt Angeline "Angie" Benton Rood lived to be 102 years old. In addition she had two cousins who were centenarians: Etta Ward Cook (1860 - 1862) lived to be 102 years old, and Etta's sister, Evaline "Eva" Ward Wells (1873 - 1978), lived to be 104 years old.
