Services for Mrs. Margaret Benton Merritt, 71, of 2428-1/2 E. Newton St., Tulsa, Okla., were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Locust Grove, Okla. She died Thursday, Aug. 15. Mrs. Merritt went to Tulsa 10 years ago from Locust Grove. She was a native of Carroll County, Ark., and the daughter of the late Rev. G. W. Benton, a pioneer minister in northeast Oklahoma. Surviving are two sons, Clyde W. Merritt, Summerville, Mo., and Rev. Gordon L. Merritt, Columbia City, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Laverna Dedmon, 1307 N. Evanston Ave., Tulsa; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; six sisters and one brother. Interment was in Hogan Cemetery, west of Locust Grove, directed by Green Funeral Home, Pryor, Okla. Mrs. Merritt, with her family, was a resident of Ozark for several years.
