Theo Ilene Berrett Chatelain

Theo Ilene Berrett Chatelain passed away peacefully at her home in North Ogden on Tuesday, September 14, 2011 at the age of 86. She was born the seventh of ten children at home in North Ogden on September 9, 1925 to Marlon H. Berrett and Stella Barker.

She married Dale Emil Chatelain on January 2, 1944 and their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1957. They both were Ben Lomond Stake dance directors in the early fifties.

After graduating high school, she worked at First Security Bank in Ogden. She later worked part time for several years at the Internal Revenue Service, after which stayed at home to raise her children.

Theo loved to travel to Yellowstone National Park each summer with her family and to fish on Yellowstone Lake. Her first trip to the Park was in September of 1944 where she and Dale fished on Yellowstone Lake in a 15-foot handmade wooden boat with a Neptune motor. Her first night in the Park was spent in a tent listening to the sound of bears roaming outside all night long.

Theo was devoted to her husband and her entire family: brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. Theo's life revolved around caring for each and every one of these members of her family. She never missed a birthday or holiday and made each one of these special and memorable. Theo selflessly devoted her time, energy and wisdom to those she loved. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do to support those around her. Each person fortunate enough to be related to Theo benefited in countless ways. They are all better people due to the example and influence Theo had upon their lives. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Dale; daughters, Linda (Don) Schneider, Sun City West, Arizona; Karen (James) Mathews, Sanford, Florida; and sons, Corey (Annette) Chatelain, Henry, Idaho and Kim Chatelain, North Ogden. She is also survived by brothers, Wilbur and Val Berrett and sisters, Pearl Blanch and Belva Phipps. She has 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Roland, Onal, and Boyd, and sisters, Lila Wayment and LaRae Cook.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 21st Ward, 650 E 2600 N., North Ogden. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery District in North Ogden.

The family would like to thank Marisa and the girls at Inspiration Hospice for all of their support.
