Wilbur Henry Berrett, 94, passed away on May 12, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born on December 12, 1919 in North Ogden, Utah, to Marlon H. and Stella Barker Berrett.

On October 16, 1940, he married the love of his life, Doris Hill, in The Salt Lake LDS Temple. During World War II, he worked for the Red Cross in San Francisco, then returned to settle in North Ogden, Utah where he and Doris raised four children.

He worked for First Security Bank for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He was vice-president and manager of the northern division mortgage loan department. He was a president of the Utah Mortgage Bankers Association. Upon his retirement, the Ogden newspaper Business Editor dubbed him Northern Utah's "Mr. Mortgage." He provided financing as well for significant real estate-recreational developments in Bear Lake, Huntsville, Brian Head and Ogden City.

Active in community life, Wilbur served as councilman and mayor of North Ogden and was also elected to the Utah House of Representatives. After that he was a lobbyist for the Ogden Chamber of Commerce.

Wilbur was born with an outgoing nature and loved people. He often told stories of events in his life. At an early age he was active in sports including commercial fast pitch and basketball teams, along with playing on church ball teams. Always an active LDS church member, he held both ward and stake positions. He was devoted to his family and was proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Wilbur is survived by his children, 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, and sister. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2002; his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
