Deceased Name: Anna Barbara Dahlberg, 100
Anna Barbara Dahlberg, 100, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet.

She was born July 26, 1906, the second of 13 children, in Willow River to Stephen and Josephine (Zywicki) Novak. At age 16, she worked in Duluth at a hotel kitchen and then in Excelsior, Minn. Anna was united in marriage to Charles Dahlberg on Sept. 7, 1925. They lived for a short time in Barnum and then in Cromwell with the George Clark Sr. family. Charlie and Anna moved to Carlton where they built a home and raised four children. Anna was a very active member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton. She also worked in several local businesses: the Pine Lodge, Stuckenburgs Café, Gillette Super Club, Blue Bird Café, Duffy Motors, First National Bank, and monthly cooked for the Goodfellowship Club of 100 men, and catered to many parties in and around the Chub Lake and Carlton areas. In the fall, Anna and Charlie would go out in the woods and gather balsam pine boughs for Christmas wreaths.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles E. Dahlberg; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one son, Charles "Jr." L. Dahlberg of Carlton; three daughters, Charlotte (Robert) Anderson of Cloquet, Donna Melin of Carlton and Barbara Johnson of Carlton; one sister, Gertrude Mitchell of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 23, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 Funeral Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton, celebrated by Rev. Father David Tushar. Music was provided by Cheryl Kramer as soloist and Cindy Crotteau as organist. Pallbearers were Michael Melin, Paul Melin, Phillip Johnson, Steve Johnson, Tom Anderson and Mike Rogers.
