Benjamin F. Davis, 84, of 416 Appanoose street, died Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Rest Haven nursing home.
A retired Burlington railroad section foreman, he had come to Ottumwa in 1901 and worked 44 years for the railroad until his retirement in 1938.
He was born in Montezuma, Ind., October 16, 1871.
His wife Mary Elizabeth, a son, Edward and two grandsons preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Genevive Williamson of Ottumwa; a son, Frank, in Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Bird Bone of Crawfordsville, Ind., and a brother, E.L. Davis of Albia.
The body is at Vaughn funeral home pending completion of funeral arrangements. Plans are tentatively made to have the funeral Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the St. Patrick's
Catholic church of which Mr. Davis was a member.

Funeral services for Benjamin F. Davis, 84, of 416 Appanoose street, will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Vaughan funeral home and at 9 o'clock in St. Patrick's Catholic church. the Rev. J. J. Collins, pastor, will celebrate the requiem high mass. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Members of the St. Patrick's parish and friends will meet this evening at 8 o'clock at the Vaughan funeral home to recite the Rosary.
