Paul Edenfield, 58, died Wednesday night, December 9, in a Savannah hospital after a short illness. He was a farmer and had lived in Portal all of his life.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Smith Edenfield of Portal; three sisters, Mrs. Clyde Franklin of Atlanta, Mrs. Roland Roberts of Portal, Mrs. Melvin Hendrix of Ludowici; seven brothers, Emmett of Orlando, Fla., Clyde of Claxton, Noyce, Pratt and ? of Portal, Max of Statesboro, John of Thomaston, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder J. Walter Hendricks and Elder Ivey Spivey. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were his nephews, Earl Edenfield, John H. Edenfield Craig Marsh, Jerry Marsh, Wendell March and Terry Smith. The body remained at the home in Portal until time for services. Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro was in charge.
