George C. Batt, 72, of 1213 Main Ave., died Tuesday at St. Nicholas Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Sheboygan on March 12, 1898, a son of the late Anton and Frances Billman Batt, and attended Holy Name School.
On April 12, 1921, he married Olga M. Timm at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Mr. Batt was a retired tavern operator. He also worked at American Chair Co., retiring in 1962.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Parish.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Robert of R. 1, Sheboygan; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Cheryl)(should be Carol) Rice of Saginaw, Mich.; six grandchildren; three brothers, Charles, Anton and Frank, all of Sheboygan, and two sister, Mrs. Frances Lemkuil and Mrs. Nellie Leibham, both of Sheboygan. Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church, the Rev. Laurence Waleske, pastor, celebrant; following brief family rites at 9:30 at the Kroos-Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
A parish vigil will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday.
