Suggested edit of 7 Nov 2019: Ichabod Palmer and his brother Gershom were baptized in Stonington on 9 September 1677 (Richard A. Wheeler, History of the First Congregational Church, Stonington, Conn., 1674–1874 [Norwich, Conn., 1875], 195). There is no record supporting a birthdate for Ichabod of 13 April 1677, as often appears online, let alone one of 13 April 1670. Though Ichabod and Gershom are often said to have been twins, there is no reason to suppose so. The brothers were baptized by Rev. James Noyes, minister of the Stonington church from 1674 to his death in 1719. While the Palmer brothers' baptismal record fails to identify the boys as twins, Noyes's baptisms of Elihu and Elisha Chesebrough (1694) and of Josiah and Joseph Witter (1698) are recorded such as to explicitly identify both pairs as twins. It was not particularly uncommon for several siblings of various ages to be baptized at the same time.

Ichabod Palmer died not in 1752, as is so often repeated online, but between 8 May 1646 (the date of his will) and exactly three years later, on 8 May 1649 (when witnesses made oath) (New London District Probate, File 3910). His death most likely occurred in the latter year.

It is interesting to note that:
Ichabod married his 1st cousin Hannah Palmer in Stonington, the daughter of Nehemiah Palmer and Anna 'Hannah' Lord (Stanton).

Both Ichabod and his wife shared the same grandfather = Walter Palmer born c. 1585.

Ichabod's father Gershom was Hannah's father's brother = Nehemiah.
