"MRS. ELIZABETH CARAHER - Passed Away in Altoona on Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Elizabeth J. Caraher for many years a resident of Tyrone, passed away at the home of her son in Altoona on Tuesday afternoon at 1:15, of senility. Mrs. Caraher was born May 26, 1831, making her age almost 86 years. Her husband, the late Alfred Caraher, was a soldier of the Civil war, and for many years resided in Tyrone, being employed as a blacksmith for the Pennsylvania Railroad company. He preceded his wife to the grave eighteen years ago. She is survived by two sons, William, of Pittsburgh, and Samuel, of Altoona, at whose home she died. She is also survived by one brother, Harper Shannon, of Burnham. Up until a short time ago, Mrs. Caraher had made her home, since her husband's death, with her two nieces, Mrs. James I. Ginter, and Mrs. H.L. Budd, in Tyrone. When a girl, Mrs. Caraher united with the Methodist church and remained faithful to the end. The body will be taken to Bald Eagle Friday morning at 8:15 o'clock where interment will be made."
