Wednesday, February 20, 1901
On last Wednesday, February 13, 1901, at 2 o'clock in the morning, at her home, one mile west of town, Mrs. Elizabeth White, wife of Alonzo White, passed to that better world. Her ailment was consumption, which disease had been gradually sapping her life away for the last 8 years. The deceased was born December 15, 1852, making her 48 years, 1 month, and 27 years of age. She was a daughter of Uncle Sam DeHaven and wife of this place. To this union 7 children were born, 3 of whom are dead. She bore her long suffering patiently and never murmured. She united with the U.B. Church about 30 years ago, at the old Nichols Church, 2 miles southwest of town. She always lived a real Christian life, and died in the bright hope of a home beyond the grave. Her funeral occurred on last Thursday afternoon, short services being held at her late residence by Rev. Elmer Fowler, pastor of the U.B. Church at this place, after which her remains were interred in the Thomas Cemetery.
