Jane "Jennie" MURPHY was born March 21, 1869 in South Amboy, New Jersey, one of eight children of Patrick James MURPHY and Margaret DELANEY. He died April 7, 1948 in Painesville, Ohio at age 76 after suffering a heart attack.

She married June 5, 1891 in Painesville, Patrick J. APPLETON the son of William F. APPLETON and Margaret MOONEY, who became Painesville's police chief. They had three daughters and a son. Jennie died June 7, 1947 at age 77 after fracturing her hip.

THEIR CHILDREN:
* Mrs. Jeannette (Charles Mason) Forman lived in Rittman, Wayne county, OH.
* William J. APPLETON was a Lake county deputy sheriff. He died 14 Jan 1962 and his wife, Virgel I (MEREDITH) APPLETON died 11 March 1961 with both buried in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
* Mrs Margaret Valentine died in 1989, her husband Clare H. Valentine died 1964 with both buried in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio.
* Mrs. Laura Barnes died in April 23, 1986 at age 90 at her home in Painesville and was buried with her husband, John J. Barnes in St. Mary Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio.

* Mrs Walter (Mary A MURPHY) AMIDON died Oct. 8, 1965 at home in Painesville at age 93 widow
* Mrs Eugene G. (Catherine MURPHY) LILLEY died June 29, 1960 in Summit county, OH at age 84 a Painesville resident, and was buried with her husband in St. Mary Cemetery, Painesville, OH.

Jean and Patrick were both buried in St Mary Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio in where Patrick's parents were also buried.
