Robert D. Gilliland, 75, of Bloomington, died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Bloomington Hospital.

He was born April 19, 1928 in Monroe County, the son of William E. and Florence (Arthur) Gilliland.

He worked for the former Nurre Glass Co. and retired from Indiana University Building Services after 25 years.

He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mable (Sutherlin) Gilliland of Bloomington; one son, Darrell W. Gilliland of Bloomington; two daughters, Linda Stines of Norman and Sheila Haggard of Pocatello, ID; six grandchildren, one step-grandson and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Leonhardt; four brothers, Edward Gilliland, Cleo Gilliland, Ivan Gilliland and his twin brother, Harold Gilliland; two half-sisters, Pearl Crouch and Marie Adams; and one half-brother, Fremont Gilliland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Allen Funeral Home, with Tom Ellsworth and Jim Landrum officiating. Burial will be at Payne Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Backstreet Mission, 215 Westplex Ave., Bloomington, IN 47404.
