Chester Curtis Alley, 74, of the Mabe/Stanley Community, Duffield, VA went to Heaven cradled in the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 5:36 p.m. at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Scott County, VA, he was a man of God with great faith. He often attended Durhams Chapel Church, but loved visiting other churches and hearing the songs of praise. He was a "simple" man with the patience of Job, who loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Laura Bates Alley; four brothers, Joe, LoFie, Eugene, and Ralph; two sisters, Zella Alley Williams and Polly Alley Kern; and son-in-law, Jerry Mitchell Vaughn.

Surviving is his loving wife of fifty-two years, Jerroline Owens Alley, Duffield, VA; two daughters, Sherry Alley Vaughn Sawyer and husband, Travis, Duffield, VA, and Robin Alley Madden and husband, James, Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Jerry "Mickey" Vaughn and wife, Cindy, Tesha Shonta Vaughn, Dustin Allen Madden, and Logan Suede Madden; two step-grandchildren, Sabrina Sawyer and Dalton Sawyer; two great grandchildren, Keila Janesha Vaughn and Jalen Mitchell Vaughn; one brother, Clayton "Bud" Alley, Detroit, MI; one sister, Ivy Alley Lane, Gate City, VA, along with several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Durhams Chapel Church,5297 Mabe Stanleytown Road, Duffield, VA. and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Durhams Chapel Church with the Rev. Terry Rhoton and the Rev. Rick Kincer officiating. Music will be provided by the Durhams Chapel Quartet.

Dustin Madden, James Perry, Leon Kern, Troy Alley, Dennis Carden, Joey Alley, Derrick Owens, Terry Hilton, Kip Kern, and Kerry Allen will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow the services at the McNew Cemetery.
