Evelyn L. (Cote) Amaral Nevens, of East Taunton, died Saturday, Jan. 23 in the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Francis E. Nevens and the late Demus R. Amaral. Mrs. Amaral Nevens was born 86 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Ovide and Ida Mae (Benoit) Cote. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a kitchen worker at Taunton State Hospital for 25 years. She had previously been employed at Eureka Manufacturing in Taunton during World War II. In early adulthood, Mrs. Amaral Nevens raised her three children. She enjoyed crocheting, playing the slots at casinos and spending time with her family. She was also a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Taunton.
She leaves 1 son, Paul F. Amaral of Attleboro; 2 daughters, Janice M. Isidorio of East Taunton and Denise L. St.Yves and her husband David of East Taunton; 1 brother, Francis Cote and his wife Louise of Mansfield; 8 grandchildren, Steven Amaral, Karen Bruce, David Amaral, Nichole Amaral, Jeffrey Isidorio and his daughter, Abigail, Christopher St.Yves and his wife, Shana, Darryl St.Yves and Jeremy St.Yves.
Mrs. Amaral Nevens is also survived by 3 stepsons, Everett Nevens, Leo Nevens and his wife Marsha, and Robert Nevens; 1 step-daughter, Sally Perkins; 2 step-grandchildren, Jason and Tracey; and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. in Taunton, on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton.
