PEARSALL, Raleigh Atwater (Rolla) was born June 5, 1827 in Chenango County, New York the son of Albert J. Pearsall and Lydia M. Atwater. He came with his father, Albert Pearsall, to Chicago July 9, 1839. He married first Susan Egbert December 18, 1851 in Iroquois County, Illinois and they had one child, Clara Josephine (Charles W. Smith) Susan died in 1855 and he then married Anne Blannerhassett and they had ten children, Albert, Ada A. (Lawrence Hackett) , Anna W. (Louis Clemenson), Rolla M., George W., Flora, Hannibal J., Lillie, Alice (Ernest J. Bleimes) and John. He taught school first in Indiana and then was a school teacher in the Chicago schools for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of the Mexican War, serving in the 3rd US Infantry. He was also a Justice of the Peace and operated a boarding house. He was raised a Master Mason January 1, 1850 in Euclid Lodge No. 65, A.F. & A.M., Naperville, IL. He died February 6, 1892 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois and was buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois.
