The first discovery that Margaret Shoup existed in this family was in the 1860 census where she is listed as the 15 yr old younger sister of Martin who is 18. Shoup is mispelled as Srief. In the 1870 census she is married to Peter Shank. He immigrated from Germany in May 1856 or 1857 as Peter Joseph Schenck and swore allegience to the USA Nov 7, 1860. They had 3 children, Margaret, Peter and Martin W. Shank. She probably immigrated with her parents and brother in May of 1851.
One source shows her as Mary Margaret Krieger thus she may have been married to a Krieger at some point.
