Orangeburg - Funeral services for J. McAdoo Berry, 78, of 2306 Riverbank Drive, Orangeburg, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Double Branch Baptist Church, Orangeburg, with the Rev. David Royster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Clarence Beason, Steve Butler, Eddie Jumper, Stephen Jumper, Dewey Davis and Ned Fogle. Mr. Berry died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Morningside Assisted Living in Orangeburg. He was born February 8, 1927, in Orangeburg, a son of the late John Joe Berry and Lenah Hughes Berry. He was the widower of Joysene Sheppard Berry and a retired owner of Berry Wholesale. Mr. Berry was a member of Double Branch Baptist Church, and Woodmen of the World. He served in the Army Merchant Marines. Survivors include one daughter, Renee and Toby Proveaux of Raleigh; three sons, J. Michael Berry of Pine Hill community, Larry M. and Mary Berry, and Dickie and Cynthia Berry, all of Orangeburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Peggy and Edsel Jumper of Orangeburg. Friends may call at the residence of Michael Berry, 2710 Slab Landing Road in Pine Hill community and at the funeral home.
