John Martin Morency Sr was my brother. He was born December 31,1933 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was born on New Years eve and the doctor wanted my mom to wait just one half hour so he would be the first New Years Baby for 1934.She said NO!
He was the son of Ida Mary [Campbell,Morency]Logan and Alfred Francis Morency [see their site on Find A Grave].The brother of[ Alfred,Robert]see their site on Find A Grave.,Thomas and Diane.Father of John Jr,Joann and Bonnie and grandfather of Heather,Christina,Matthew,John,Phillip,and Christian.
He married Margaret Marion Bakely {Sis} on July 3,1955 at St Matthews Catholic Church in National Park, NJ.They were married for 56 years.
Sometime in the mid 1930s he moved to Verga,NJ and then to National Park, NJ with his parents.He is a life long resident of National Park, NJ.
Jack was a hard working family man.He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War.He devoted 42 years as a welder to PSE&G and a longtime member of St Matthews Catholic Church in National Park. Jack was past Commander and lifetime member of the Army/Navy Garrison #52,VFW post #6884,National Park Boat Club and was often seen driving around town in his truck. He also was a devoted sports fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and an avid fisher,crabber and horseback rider in his early years. He loved horses.
He spend a few weeks during the summer at the Jersey shore.
Jack was a fun and loving person. Though he was thirteen years older then I he was always attentive.He use to take me for a ride on his motorcycle and would say to me now when the dogs start chasing us keep them away.
Jack over the last ten years had ill health. He had a quadruple bypass,leukemia,which was in remisson,Asbestos cancer and blood disorders.
On April 9,2011 he passed away due to a heart attack while in the hospital at the age of 77.
Jack will be cremated and ashes put in the memorial wall at the Eglington Cemetery.

He will be talked about to his great grandchildren,Lexi,Violet and Liam.

We miss him very much




He might be gone but he will never be forgotten.
