From Longford or Clay Center, Kansas newspaper--
George Emrich, almost a life long resident of the Longford vicinity, passed away at his home Friday evening at 6:30, March 22, 1952. His age was 70 years, 4 months, and 12 days.

George, first son of Mr. and Mrs. John Emrich, was born November 10, 1881, on a farm four miles east of Longford, Kansas. He grew to manhood in the community of his birth and received his education at the Walker School.

On August 17, 1910, at Woodward, Woodward County, OK George married Nellie Anthony, and they lived on a 160 acre farm near Quinlan, Oklahoma. To this union were born two children, John Ervin and Pearl Lucille. In 1914 Nellie Emrich passed away.

On April 4, 1917 George was united in marriage to Nellie Young of Milford, Kansas. To this marriage were born four children. Dorothea Estel was born in Oklahoma. In 1919 they moved back to the Longford community where Arlene June, Hazel Lorene and George Loren were born.

On November 11, 1900 Mr. Emrich united with the United Evangelical Church at Longford, Kansas. For a time he was active in the work of the young peoples society.

His jovial disposition won for him a host of friends in the home community, and where ever he was known. He was a good husband, a kind father and a helpful neighbor. He was honored by his friends in being elected to a number of local offices.

Mr. Emrich leaves to mourn their loss, his wife Nellie of the home near Longford; and six children; also seven grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman of Miltonvale, Kansas; Walter of Martin City, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Yount of Reno, Nevada; and Mrs. Melcena Anthony of Industry, Kansas; and many other relatives by whom he will be greatly missed.

George's WW II Draft Registration of April, 1942 lists him as age 60, a married farmer of Chapman TS, Clay County, Kansas, 5'10", 200 pounds, with blue eyes, gray hair and a dark complexion. He has a broken forefinger on his left hand and a mole under his right eye.
