Jerry Eugene (Gene) Pleas, age 73 of Chipley, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born February 19, 1938 in Chipley to the late Jerry Edgar and Glatus (Mitchell) Pleas. A life-long resident of Chipley, he was a former sales rep for Graceville Oil Company, a former member of the National Guard and a member of Orange Hill United Methodist Church. Survivors include; his wife, Lyndal (Sheffield) Pleas; one daughter, Deidra Day and husband Paul of Chipley; two brothers, Larry Pleas and wife Sandra, of Chipley, Robert Pleas and wife Regina of Chipley; two step-sons, Steve Rogers and wife Beth of Panama City, Greg Rogers and wife Linda of Panama City; one sister, Shirley Taylor of Chipley; four step grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers Hagler and husband Jack, Josh Rogers and wife Jillian, Mary and Beatrice Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11 A.M. at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry May officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 8, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Orange Hill United Methodist Church, Special Building Fund, at Sunday Road, Chipley, Florida 32428.
