Age 83, was born in Fort Worth, TX, on July 21, 1932, to James Sr. & Angeline Dalrymple.

She passed away in Dallas, TX, on September 18, 2015, after a short illness.

Joan grew up in Kilgore, Texas after her father, who played professional baseball, became the manager of the 1939 East Texas League pennant-winning Kilgore Boomers.

After finishing high school, she attended Kilgore College where she performed as a member of the world-famous Rangerettes in the summer of 1952.

She met the love of her life, Ted Allen, when she was employed at the Kilgore News Herald as "Miss Classified Ad" and he was the Sports Editor. In 1967 Ted found an editorial position with the Dallas Morning News and the Dallas suburb of Duncanville became their home.

However, Joan never forgot her Kilgore roots and went back often to visit her parents and friends.

Growing up in a family where her father both played baseball professionally and managed a minor-league team, she loved sports and always said that she came by her love of baseball naturally.

Joan worked and volunteered at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville for well over 35 years, including serving as Director of Community Life. She was much loved & will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents & her brother, James Dalrymple, Jr.

Left with loving memories to cherish are Ted Allen, her beloved husband of 61 years; her daughters, Suzanne Tuttle & husband, Steve, Barbara Varley & husband, Brian, & Becky Garza and husband, Gus; six grandchildren, Bobby O'Banion, Erin Varley, Caitlin Varley, Ian Varley, Brianna Garza & Theo Garza; 2 great-grandsons; as well as her sister, Jerry Dalrymple Kelly of Akron, OH; & nieces, Teresa Kelly Pastor & husband, Mark, of Akron, OH, Laurie Allen of Houston & Lianne Allen Busbee and husband, Jon of Boerne; several cousins & many friends.
