A celebration of life will be held for Bernice A. Simpson, age 86, of Conroe on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Tommie Helm officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 4 to 7pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Bernice was born October 9, 1924 in Grapeland, Texas and passed away on January 23, 2011 at Hermann Memorial in The Woodlands, Texas. She was raised in Grapeland, Texas and attended primary schools in both Latexo and Grapeland. Bernice graduated Salutatorian from Grapeland High School on May 7, 1942 and then attended business school in Houston, Texas. She was employed by Superior Oil Co. (Lake Creek Plant on FM 1488) 1958 until 1984, when she elected retirement upon the sale of Superior Oil to Mobile. Bernice and Forrest, her late husband, lived from 1952 to 1962 South of Conroe and next to the former "Longhorn" Truck Stop in Conroe for a few years and then West of Conroe in their Log Cabin on Blake Road until 2007. She lived her final years at The Conservatory at Alden Bridge in The Woodlands, where she made many friends. During her retirement years she enjoyed cooking and canning fresh fruits and vegetable from their fruit trees and gardens. Bernice loved people and if you visited her, you generally left with canned jellies and either canned or fresh vegetables. She left a trail of friends wherever she went. Bernice loved and supported her family and husband of sixty-four (64) years. She was truly a sweetheart and will be missed by all. Bernice is preceded in death by her father, Roy Allen; mother, Esther Sims Allen; husband, Forrest G. Simpson; infant daughter, Elicanette Simpson and sisters, Ola Mae Caskey, Eloise DeLeon and Elozene Masters. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Forrest M (Mike) Simpson and wife, Gay Beth of Conroe, Gerald L. (Jerry) Simpson and wife, Vicki of The Woodlands and Patrick A. (Pat) Simpson and wife, Jeannie of San Antonio; seven (7) grandchildren and fourteen (14) great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Scott Simpson, Michael Simpson, Travis Simpson and Barrett Simpson, Great-grandchildren, Jacob Simpson and Weston Simpson.
