He shares a stone with his wife, Flora Mae Helm Allen. He was a retired bricklayer, and was residing near Palestine, TX at the time of his death in a local hospital there. He was survived his wife; four daughters, Bernice Allen Simpson and Elozene Allen Masters, both of Conroe, Elois Case of Houston, and Ola Mae Allen Caskey of Grapeland; three brothers, Edward Allen, Ralph Huford Allen and Artice Allen, all of Grapeland; five sisters, Ruth Ann Allen Parker and Grace Beatrice Allen Hughes, both of Grapeland, and Eunice Elura Allen Dickey, Edna Mae Allen Grounds, and Isabel "Kit" Allen Helm, all of Pasadena; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Tuesday, 22 January 1974.
