Beckman, Jesse C. 89, of Shelby, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, July 25, 2007. He was born Nov. 17, 1917 in Shelby to Jesse Clarence Beckman and Emma (Willick) Beckman. Jesse was a sergeant in the Army during World War II. He met Ann Sisul and married her Oct. 9, 1944. She passed away Sept. 24, 2003. Mr. Beckman was a lifelong resident of Shelby. The Beckmans enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. He was a long time owner and partner of Beckman Brothers in Shelby along with his brothers, Bob and Lawrence. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Mr. Beckman was also a member of the Shelby V.F.W. (Robert W. Wiswell) Post and the Gordon Bates Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. Mr. Beckman is survived by his children, Jess M. (Dana) Beckman of Crystal Lake, and Kathleen Beckman of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Dawn (Sam) Hassan, Robert (Haley) Helmer, Jessica (Craig) Harris and Michael Beckman; great-grandchildren, Calem Helmer and Joshua Harris; his brother, Laverne Beckman; and sister, Marguerite Reames; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Beckman and Irene Beckman. He was preceded in death by his brother Ernol and his wife, Norma; brother, Floyd and his wife, Rose; his brothers, Robert and Lawrence, sister-in-law, Beatrice Beckman; brother-in-law, Lee Reames, and his granddaughter, Michelle Beckman. The Funeral Mass was Saturday, July 28, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Phillip Witkowski as Celebrant. The rosary was recited last Friday at the funeral home. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
