William Kurkamp, one of the wealthiest and best known residents of this township, died at his home in Manhattan at 11 o'clock p. m., December 2, 1902, of Dropsy and Bright's disease, aged 81 years, 1 month, 17 days. Deceased was a native of Germany and had lived in Illinois 49 years. Most of his time was spent on his farm in Jackson, where he owned several large tracts. Several years ago, Mr. Kurkamp lost his wife which was a blow to him from which he never fully recovered and he has been in feeble health since. He leaves a large family, also 32 grand children. The children living are: Henry, Frank, William, Mrs. Laura Meyers, Mrs. Amelia Seltzer, Mrs. Mary Long, Mrs. Anna Meyers and Mrs. Ella Lichtenwalter, all of whom live in Will county.
