GOWRIE - Richard H. Bean, 85, died on Friday, January 14, 2011, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge.
Private family funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18th, at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie, with Pastor Anita Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Reading Twp. Cemetery, Farnhamville. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Survived by daughter, Nancy Bevin and husband Dennis Peterson of Ames; son, Larry Bean and his wife Vicki of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Wayde Warehime and his wife Jody, Wendy Bevin, Angela Dobbins and her husband Matt, and Jeremy Bean and his wife Melanie; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Wanetta Lester, Deloris LeBlanc, Barbara Ramlo, Lorna Kay Hack; brothers, Donald and Loren Ekquist.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene; parents, Walter and Delpha (Hoover) Bean; brothers, Bernard and Doran Bean, and Dyrus Ekquist; and a sister, Delpha Bean.
Richard Homer Bean was born on January 4, 1926, in Drakesville, Iowa. He attended schools in the Drakesville area. Richard served in the U.S. Army during WWII, obtaining decorative medals and was a prisoner of war. He was united in marriage with Darlene Vinchattle on September 23, 1944, in Sparta, WI. They farmed in the Slifer area for 50 years. Richard was a member of the Slifer Church of the Brethern.
