Loren W. Ekquist, 89, of Sterling, died Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Rock River Hospice and Home, in Sterling.
Loren was born on September 16, 1933, in Drakesville, Iowa, the son of Charles W. and Delpha L. (Hoover) Bean.
At a young age, he went to live with the Ekquist family, Vernon and Dolores, who then adopted him. Loren married Jeanne Dwyer on June 28, 1958. He owned and operated Loren and Ron's TV Repair for 50 years. He then began Ekquist Trailer Enterprises with his son. Loren enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races. He also enjoyed fishing, mowing the lawn and watching football games.
Survivors include his wife; his son; two grandsons; his four sisters and two brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Deloris Ekquist; one grandson, Willy Ekquist; his brothers, Bernard Bean, Richard Bean, Doren Bean, Dyrus Ekquist and Donald Ekquist and his sisters, Lorna Hack and Delpha Bean.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. , at the McDonald Funeral Home, in Rock Falls. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with Reverend Bradley Wilson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established.
