STEVENS -- Dean Stevens, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1939, died Saturday, October 12, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Ann Carrillo and husband, Joe, of Trinidad, CO; son, Benny Dean Stevens and wife, Ann, of Mesa, AZ; granddaughters, Keira Huckeby and husband, Michael, and Jill Mehrer and husband, Paul; three step-grandchildren, Larry and Greg Carrillo and Peggy Fason; brother, Billy Joe Stevens and wife, Margaret, of California; and his dog, Annie. Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Annie Stevens. Prior to coming to Albuquerque, he farmed and operated his own business in Muleshoe, TX. In his early years in Albuquerque he operated his own business and was involved in automotive repair and services. His interest in automobiles continued as a hobby throughout his life. Mr. Stevens retired in 1977 from Greyhound Bus Lines after 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Stevens was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd. NW, 87120. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Mr. Stevens siblings who preceded him in death included Wilma Beola Stevens, Elmo Stevens, Glen Stevens, Opal Stevens Robison, Jewel Stevens Griffiths and Myrtle Stevens Watkins.
