Son of A.F. Tucker, Sr. (1812-1879) and Mary Eliza Ruffin (1818-1846). He enlisted in August, 1861 at the age of 18 and served as a Private, Company A Mississippi I Batallion. He served for the duration of the War. He served with the Como Avengers and was discharged after Shiloh, but reinlisted in the Mississippi 2 Calvary, Company D under Capt. James D. Ruffin. He surrendered at Columbus, MS on May 16, 1865. Following the War, he married a widow, Clara Lewis Jewell Prosser, who had two children. His occupations included "Plantation Overseer" and "Postal Clerk".
