Daughter of John McCabe Lewis and Clara Jewell, Clara married Lawrence Hilton Prosser, a former U.S. Military Academy Cadet and Confederate Veteran from Wilkinson County, Mississippi about 1868. They had two children: Eleanora Lewis and Clarence J. Prosser. Lawrence died before 1873 because she was listed as his widow in the Directory for New Orleans, Louisiana for that year. By the time of the 1880 census, Clara was listed as the wife of Adolphus Fenton Tucker, Jr. and was living with him and her two Prosser children in Memphis, Tennessee. It is here that she made her home for the rest of her life.
