Funeral service for Edward B. Anders, will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, Dec 29, 2010 in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug de Graffenried officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tues, Dec 28, 2010 from 5 - 9 PM in Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home and on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 from 10 until service time in the church.

Dr. Anders, 80, of Natchitoches, La., died Sun, Dec 26, 2010, in his residence at Natchitoches, La. Dr. Anders was a native of Chatham, La. and was a retired professor of mathematics from Northwestern State University. He earned degrees from La. Tech University, Northwestern State University, Penn State University, and a doctor of mathematics from Auburn University. He was a member of numerous professional organizations and was very active in the faculty senate and other campus activities while on faculty at the university. Dr. Anders was a former member of the Board of Regents for Higher Education. Dr. Anders was a longtime member of the Natchitoches Lions Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Sanctuary Choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired as Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Anders Miller; parents, Marshall Benoit Anders and Velma Head Anders; sister, Bobbie Anders Oldham.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene Thompson Anders of Natchitoches, La.; one son, Michael Edward Anders of Alexandria, La.; grandson, Nicolas Johnson of Natchitoches, La.; son-in-law, Patrick Miller and wife Lizabeth and their children, Zachary and Jordan White all of Natchitoches, La.; one sister, Algene Anders Hearne of Chatham, La.

Pallbearers will be Pat Miller, Doug Garrett, Bill Thompson, Nick Johnson, Paul Fleming, and Jay Hix. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Natchitoches Lions Club. Memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church Choir Fund; Koinonia, Pam Miller Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church; or The Lions Club for the Louisiana Eye Bank Foundation.
