Born in Celina, TX on April 11, 1920 to LeRoy and Essie Lee McWilliams Sanders, Lyla was the second of six children. She attended McKinney public school and graduated in 1938. She joined the Church of Christ at the age of 11 and professed trust in Christ as her Savior. She married Carlton Lawson Cashon in McKinney in 1940. She worked as an insurance secretary, retiring after 30 years in 1973.

Her creative abilities were a great joy to her and shown in her art work, painting and decoupage. In later years she began to find her favorite craft in the making of porcelain dolls. She was always a lover of dolls and she carried the dolls from pouring the porcelain through each of the processes to the final dressing of her lovely unique dolls.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 5 – 6 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Graveside service will be Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Lyla was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ray and Jimmy Sanders and her sister, Clara Painter.

She is survived by her husband, Carlton Lawson Cashon; her daughter and son-in-law, Valette and Charles Volney Randall; her granddaughter and husband, Patricia and Jason Kirkley; a great-granddaughter Christina and husband, Jeff Parker; great-grandsons Blake McKnight and Joshua Kirkley; her brother, Benny Sanders of McKinney and sister Neil Young of San Antonio.
