Edna was born September 2, 1932 in Columbus, Georgia daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby Brown Meadows. She was born and raised in Columbus, she was a 1949 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. She married Louie Abney on April 7, 1950 and had two sons David and Louie. She was a homemaker and had worked for American Family Life (AFLAC) in the early years of the company. Later she went to work as a secretary at the Muscogee County School District Main Office and retired from there in 1995. Edna was the loving wife of Louie Abney for 60 years and loving mother of David and Louie Abney. She was the "best" mother that any two sons could hope for! She was the "best" wife that any man could hope for! She was a caring and loving person who gave her very best to her family. Absolutely devoted to her family. Edna was a member of the Edgewood Church of Christ, she was raised as a child in the Church of Christ. From Waverly Avenue to Norris Road and ultimately Edgewood. Edna loved to read and counsel her grown sons and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. Edna suffered a long and lengthy illness before her departure. Her suffering and pain are now over. Her families loss will be her gain as she arrives in Heaven to live with our Master! Survivors include her husband Louie G. Abney of Columbus, GA; sons David Abney (Charlotte) of Columbus, GA and Louie Abney of Phenix City, AL; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sister, Joyce McCullough of Columbus, seven nephews and three nieces.
